Blog move

So, after all my hard work to get this site lookin' pretty, I was swept away by wordpress. Mostly by it's better ability to showcase pictures, which I find rather useful since I plan to be posting a lot. If anyone has me linked (riiiight), or bookmarked (riiiight), please take a moment to update using this: http://subtitledlife.wordpress.com/.

Or, if you just want to view it, click here.

It's new, it's improved

it's... old fashioned?

Indeed, this is our new lawn mower.

I stole

These belong to Gabe, but I liked them so much I stole them from him. He doesn't use them anyway - his glasses are the type that transition.

Here I was thinking...

...that she was completely black.

I guess not.

My view

Just a sliver of the scenery around here.

While I'm at it

I thought I'd show you the back yard, too. And Patch. With Easter doing what she does best - chasing her.

Poinsettia

These past couple days Gabe and I have spent at his parent's home. This picture is of part of their front garden, including some poinsettia plants - the tallest of which must be at least 6 feet in height. It wouldn't be surprising if they doubled their height eventually. And here most of us thought they were supposed to be small house plants!

Plans

To help force myself to develop what little skills I have with the camera, I've decided to try posting a picture a day for an undetermined length of time.

Here is today's. While actually taken over a week ago, at least people will know how much of a cheat I am from the start, so they will not be under any false assumptions.

I met this little guy after he had climbed through an open window into our house. He then proceeded to climb up me, seeing as how I'm apparently so tree-like.

Playing games

Since Gabe has been off in another city for going on a week now, we decided to spend some time "together" by playing a game of photo scavenger hunt. I made up a list of pictures we were supposed to find, and away we went, keeping touch once in a while during the day to see how the other was fairing. It was so much fun!

Here are my results.

Here are Gabe's results.

By the way, Gabe won. He got all the pictures first. I took too long trying to be artistic.

Contact

Today, as I was out walking Easter, Enrique, the man who is often out running at the same time stopped, and said to me with his small English: "Did you hear ... Michael Jackson died?"

"Oh," I thought to myself, "Michael Jackson - he's uh, that guy who... no he didn't play basketball, that was someone else. Oh, THAT Michael Jackson!"

Returning my complete attention to Enrique, I thanked him for telling me and applied a sad look to my face in hopes that it'd convey... something. It was apparent to me that Enrique did in fact, like MJ. I just didn't have the Spanish words to convey much of anything that I was truly thinking. So after the consolatory facial expression by me, and a smile from him, we went our separate ways.

A few flickers

So, I messed with my blog and came out with this. I like it. For now.

I hope to start blogging again sometime soonish, but knowing myself, that may end up being six months from now. Kind of like my wedding Thank You cards... they're coming, honest! I even have some written; now I just have to find a way to get postal stamps and discover how one mails things when one doesn't have a mail box with it's exciting little red flag which signals to the mail carrier.

I don't like Facebook, it took so many people away from blogging. But so far I haven't mustered up enough moral fortitude to return to the "Oh no, it's going to make me think more" world of blogging. Pray hard. Miracles do happen.

As yet untitled

you don't need me to set you free
i'm not here to hold you back.
let me watch you fly away - see?
there's nothing but wind surrounding
your outspread wings.
glide, soar - take the world as your own
and become one
with what you dreamed last night.
i saw the smile on your face as you slept;
that slight upturn of your lips
that i love.
don't wait around for me - just fly,
i'll be here when you wake.

What's been going on

Dear friends,

I'd like to introduce someone to you. His name is Gabe. We met some months ago and found so many things in common that we decided ('we' being Gabe, myself, my parents, and God and His providences and leading; not necessarily in that order :) that a continued relationship was a good idea. Gabe and I have been courting for a few weeks now and would like to pass the knowledge on to others, because shared happiness is oh so much better, I believe. So is shared faith! We'd love to have you trust God along with us, as we seek His will for our futures.

The Perfectly Awful Poem

There are many brands of poets in this world,
Few of which ever produce anything worth reading.
But, before I raise a general outcry, let me explain.
There are the quivering, cowering types
Who are terrified of their own writing and
Secret it away in some darksome corner
To be found decades later by poor, unsuspecting relatives.
Then we have the normal, everyday type
Who writes passably well and is relatively sane
(Or as sane as a poet can be)
He shares a few succulent selections
With his friends once every year,
March 4th, 2:30PM to be exact. Rain or shine.
However, this world never was perfect and
Sad to say there is also the Conceited Poet.
Brassy and bold, he pours his creations upon the
Poor unprotected public with little regard
For the continuance of their mental health.
With a forceful "Read this!" he waves It under their noses.
And so they do; their toes curl and the hair
On their heads stands at attention.
Tiny rivulets of sweat trace delicate patterns down
Troubled brow, and they hand the offending article back,
Held gingerly between two fingers.
With a perfectly awful grin he retrieves his disgusting spawn.
And then the shaken reader,
With quavering steps makes his way home.
And with eyes rolling and hair wild he
Regales his friends with a recount of
The Perfectly Awful Poem.

Sweeeeet

I finally did it, people. I finally missed posting at least once a month so now my archives list is forever marred.

Woohoo! I love this feeling of freedom. :-D

Here's hoping you all find the needed freedom from blog bondage (if it exists for you, of course).

I feel positively giddy...

ok, maybe not giddy...

hmmm...

Last night

Last night I went to bed wearing a pair of cozy socks.

This morning I woke up and they were laying on my bed next to my head, folded together very neatly.

I don't remember a thing about doing it.

Hmmm...
