Heaven

Man is, but not forever.
Life is breathed into dust, God-formed.
To live, on earth,
It is a mere reflection of true Life.
The soul is not at home here,
We live but a fleeting moment
And then--too soon, for those left behind--
We shed that shell that bound us
And fly, fly away Home.
Now we know, that what we had on earth
Is but straw, and stubble.
The empty ache, that Home-sickness
Which we never knew was so huge,
Is filled and overflowing.
And we rest, rest in Him.

Oh to be there now!

It is our duty to continue on. If you happen to enjoy life, that is a fringe benefit...

Lisa... another fine, upstanding woman. :)

But Ryu, you make it sound like life is horrible all the time. Sure, it's tough, but the toughness makes the joys of life all that much better... and I wouldn't miss them for the world.

nice pic. did you take it?

I'd like to claim it as mine, but no... someone I know had the fortune to take it.

Life is terrible, all the time. hahaahahahaha. Um, as a Christian, I don't believe that at all. Nor is my first statement accurate.

We have the right to expect to be happy. Not just joyful, but happy. Maybe not all the time, but enough of the time. Remember Chuck Knowles's Feast Meeting? If you don't, email him about his "happy" meeting...

We have a choice. Everyone knows life can dish out some pretty nasty things, but it's what we do with them that counts. Embrace the pain, or run from it. If you run, it'll be there waiting for you... sometimes worse than it was before... if you stay and walk through it, then it's far more likely you'll be able to leave it behind sooner than you expected. And become so much better because of it. It's truely astounding what happens when you stop trying to protect yourself from "needful" pain.

I was wondering about the picture too, though in a slightly different direction. If your name is laughter, isn't the pic a little gloomy? I look at it and see mid february in New Hampshire, not my idea of something to laugh at.

Hahahahahaa! YOU gave up your anonymity, so I have taken up the mantle. Long live chaos and insantiy...

W.C., who says one can't laugh in the gloom? Maybe there's where I find the most joy... haha. Actually, that picture wasn't taken in NH... try a lot further south. And try early summer, not February. It's a beautifully mysterious foggy morning. One which you walk through as in a new world with yourself, small, but content. Things seem different somehow. Besides, isn't it a beautiful tree?

*sigh* My dear faux masked maniac, you sound remarkably like someone I know. However, if it gives you great joy to plagiarize my discarded alter ego, then have at it. Just as long as you don't mess with my pristine image. :)
